This iconic retro Drumbo elephant was designed by Luigi Colani in 1960's for Dresdner Bank.
Money boxes of this kind were highly popular and available in different sizes, materials and colours. The indicated elephant is made of bright yellow ABS plastic and is, I believe, the largest. This particular money box differs from the earliest Drumbos in functionality. It has a thin plastic panel on the bottom for removing your coins. Initially you had to break the Drumbo to retrieve your cash. We do have one of that kind available in green colour, so check it our. It is listed separately.

Luigi Colani is a Berlin-born designer that is renowned for his dynamic yet quirky organic furniture and industrial design. In his year of work he has designed for various big names such as Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Volkswagen, BMW, Villeroy and Boch, Boeing, Rosenthal and NASA.

There is a little scratch that can be seen on the 5th picture, otherwise the money keeper is in lovely vintage condition.
