A beautiful industrial wall clock made in 1988 by Iskra Yugoslavia. It is quite large and impressive when hung on a wall and indeed a very popular item for collectors and interior designers. As you can imagine, it displays beautifully in an industrial studio office or home. It's made of metal and glass and comes with a new battery operated mechanism.
Iskra ("Spark") was an electronic equipment manufacturer in Yugoslavia, established in 1946 in Kranj, Slovenia. The company was home to one of the most well renowned designers of it's time, Davorin Savnik, who designed the famous Iskra ETA Telephone, which received numerous international awards for exceptional design.
This is a classic Yugoslav nostalgia piece, with its great design and excellent quality. As noted by Prof. Jonathan Woodham, much of socialist design was written-out of 20th Century design, despite is absolutely relevant innovation and quality. As time has passed since 1989, more and more interest in this "hidden" design culture is emerging. The more you see and learn about it, the more you like and want it.
